Hi, and welcome to the weekend coffee share. Can I get you a cup of coffee? Or tea? How are you? I hope your week is fabulous! I’d say that my week is pretty good so far. It’s late Friday afternoon, and there’s a whole weekend to enjoy ahead of us. I love my job, but I also love that feeling of freedom when the weekend arrives. I do have some writing for school, and work to do this weekend, but still 🙂
What is the weather like in your area? It’s been a beautiful week here in my part of Sweden. We had some snow in the beginning of the week. Most of it is gone now, but not all. We had mild weather yesterday, it’s been cold today (28F) and sunny. I have not been riding my bike this week, but I’ll probably get around to that this weekend. I have been taking several long walks though, and I feel great!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? I’m going to relax at home with my daughter tonight, and get started on the writing first thing tomorrow morning. I believe the school report that is due Monday is around 2000 words. I’ve read all the literature, and I’ve made up the framework for the report, but there is a lot of writing to do before it’s done. I’m going to spend at least 6 hours writing tomorrow, and do the finishing touches on Sunday. I enjoy the process, and with some fun breaks of outdoor activities it’s going to be a great weekend. I’ll probably spend a great deal of time helping my daughter with her Swedish as well, I do that most weekends. Her native language is English, but she goes to a regular class in a Swedish school. I do put some time into helping her every week.
Can I give you a refill on your beverage? Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share!
Love,
Maria
Seems like a fair mix of work and relaxation with your family – enjoy – we have 80 degrees here in Los Angeles this weekend so it’s time to head outside!

Sounds like a busy weekend! I really admire how organized you are with your assignments. As the saying goes, “Hard by the yard, a cinch by the inch.” Things go smoother by breaking things down into little steps.
And you’ve had snow– that could be us any day. Although, our temps are still running about 10º above average. We’ve been deluged with rain today and a cold front is blowing through with gusty winds. We saw a big old spruce that had fallen onto a house in town, ouch! Makes one realize that it is a good idea to check the health of trees near buildings, as rot can be stealthy. Best to take care of them before a storm comes.
Most of my outdoor work is done and to celebrate I picked up some books and movies at the library and started working on a jigsaw puzzle, the ultimate winter activity. 😉
Take care and I hope your weekend is both pleasingly productive and fun. ❤

Thank you Eliza! In my mind you are a pretty organised lady yourself. I do live by the idea of breaking things down into little steps, they never feel overwhelming when I do it like that. I tried to explained that idea to my son earlier this week, when he felt overwhelmed by school assignments.
I hope your weekend is everything you want it to be. Picking up some good books at the library sounds like fun!! ❤

Thank you, Maria. Teaching your kids this skill can make such a huge difference in their life success. There should be emphasis of this taught in school, particularly as kids head into middle and high school, but I find it gets short shrift, at least here. Good on you, teacher! ❤ 🙂

So great that you find some relax time so important for you wonderful teachers. Amazing stunning scenery. Does the canal freeze like a lake during winter. We have had much needed rain here was 38c, 100f yesterday humidity was drenching, today is forecast to be 23c, 73f. starting my day with a jumpa on, there is a cool dry wind, I’m so confused, lol. Planting vegie seeds is one of the many things I will enjoy this weekend. Hope you have a joyous weekend your treasures & you.

OOo planting, how fun! One of my favourite activities. What are you planting this time? 38C is very hot, especially with humidity. Enjoy the cooler weather today. Around 70 is my favourite summer temperature, still cool enough to get things done, and for plants to thrive.
The canal partly freezes during winter, it’s a system of lakes connected to each other. You can usually go iceskating on the biggest lake, the one that I ride my bike around https://greendreams.blog/2021/10/17/silent-sunday-4/.
Have a wonderful weekend my friend! ❤

I loved the stunning photos of the lake, such a beautiful place. I have planted another lot of corn(ducks ate last crop)lol, bush beans, spinach & Paris carrots. The Paris carrots are great as they grow like little beetroot, golf ball size roughly, good for harder soils or even in shallow trays or pots on your balcony. ( :
Have a marvellous week ahead my friend.

Thank you! How fun with the planting. I have never heard of Paris carrots, but there are so many different varieties of all vegetables that one can get a hold of these days. Exciting stuff! Best of luck with the garden 🙂 Have a fabulous new week!

Very nice scenery photos and good weekend plan, Maria. Friday was sunny and cool here so I was outside cycling and walking. I usually stay home on Saturday to relax and avoid crowds but Sunday forecasts rain so maybe I’ll go out early on Saturday and stay in on Sunday. Thank you for your #weekendcoffeeshare. Have a great weekend!

We have had lovely weather for hiking this past week as well; thankfully we don’t have any snow yet but I can tell by how cold it gets at night that we will have some ice and snow within the next month or so.

We are still battling colds, here. I’m feeling much better, today. Al covered a double shift at his volunteer work, then came home and went to sleep. I had a marvelous time at both my Artist’s Way class via Zoom, and also a social get-together with a friend on Patreon and a nice time visiting for an hour, this afternoon, also on Zoom. Included were two fellows in Poland and one in Australia, all regulars. Best wishes for you in your writing!

I cringe when I see the snow on the ground! I’m so happy to live in Ireland. We have 13 degrees today, and fog. But winter is certainly coming. I like the peaceful look of your home! The picture of the lake (and is it the university to the right?) is beautiful!

I like the snow 🙂 Hoping for more!
Thank you, we’ve lived in this apartment for a year now. We really like it here. I’ll probably move to a smaller place when my son gets his own apartment, in a couple years or so. For now it is perfect.

Life is always busy for you Maria. Good stuff happening. I hope your daughter has found the value of learning Swedish and realizes what a great opportunity is right in front of her if she can just get past the initial learning hump. I know I would not have seen the value when is was roughly her age. School was hard for me already without adding language stress. I later learned my situation was mostly confidence and a belief in myself.but at the time, I just knew I was struggling to keep up. I had great parents but dealing with situations like mine just did not make sense to them.
I hope you had a productive weekend of writing and helping her master the language.
BTW: I got my new longer story posted. If you are a Sci-Fi fan at all, consider yourself invited to spend an hour with with it. It’s titled, ‘Defending Canopy Station’,
I spent my weekend finishing it and it’s a David v Goliath, space battle, speed of light and kinetic energy nerd fest. Except for the how all this gear got up into space, the science of this story should feel accurate. I worked hard at making the science right. The link is below if you’d like to some space adventure to your week.

Thank you for your kind comment Gary. The weekend was great, a wonderful mix of productivity (I felt good about the report I handed in,) relaxation, family time, and outdoor exercise. I hope your weekend was great! I’m not a big sci-fi fan (I sometimes get hooked on a story,) I will look for an opportunity to read your story sometime this week. Have a fabulous new week!
