Weekend Coffee Share

A coffee break in the sun. One moment of mindfulness. I am always striving to live my life in a mindful way, but some times it is a challenge. However, there is always moments of mindfulness available. Do you acknowledge the moments of mindfulness in your life?

If we were having coffee, I wouldn’t know where to start. You go first, how is your week so far?

Tuesday, the day when I take the children at work skiing, and later in the day attend school myself, have become my new favourite day. It’s insanely busy, but it gives me so much joy to see the children gain confidence and have fun in the ski slope. And the seminar I attend on Tuesday afternoons is always very interesting. The adrenaline from skiing wears off about the same time that the seminar ends, and around 8pm I can not keep my eyes open any longer..LOL.  My favourite day of the week. It is a good things it’s only one day a week though.

The rest of the week went by in a blur, with half the staff and both chefs down with Covid it quickly turned into a lot of overtime. The week went pretty smooth, no big obstacles, but it did feel like a marathon. There was northern lights visible in our area most nights this week, but I was too tired to stay up and watch. I also got my third booster shot on Thursday afternoon, and as a side effect my body ached all day yesterday,  but luckily I did not get a fever (like I did the two previous ones.) This weekend is going to be a relaxing one, spending time with my daughter. I am really looking forward to it! The agenda is wide open. Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Walking to work was very beautiful every day this week. The sky often offer a spectacular show in one way or another. Morning moments of mindfulness.

Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share. Please visit her blog, and have a look at all the lovely coffee shares. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend!

Love,

Maria

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. I now reside in the region where I was born: Dalarna, Sweden. I am a mom, a kindergarten teacher, a minimalist and a gardener. Love, Maria

  1. It must be a lot of fun to go skiing with children and I loved your photos on Instagram earlier this week. I’m sorry to hear about your workload though, February is always a bad month for viruses circulating, also without Covid. I hope things calm down for you soon.
Here the weekend is pleasant, it’s my birthday today and we’re having a couple of friends over for dinner later.

  2. Have a great weekend, Maria! I’m glad that you love your work, that makes it less like work. Lovely photo and I’d love to see the Aurora Borealis! Vegas weather today will be sunshine and 74 degrees, nice!

  3. What beautiful photos and what a busy week!! I’m so happy you are doing great. I would be exhausted after your long days too, and sometimes that’s the best sleep when your head hits the pillow! My daughter drove home to be with her best friend all of today. I’ll meet up with them eventually as my farrier is coming for the horses today and then she heads home tomorrow. A short visit but it’s always great to see her! Maybe tomorrow I can get on the computer to write a coffee share too. Have a wonderful relaxing weekend! ❤️🤠🥰

    1. Thank you Diana. Yes, the best sleep is often when we are drop dead tired, which is most nights for me. LOL. Good sleep is a blessing. I hope things went great with the farrier. Is Murphy good with the farrier? Looking forward to your coffee share ❤

      1. I should take a photo of Murphy with the farrier! Yes, he’s a good boy but we discovered that he is best when you pick up his feet in the order I always pick them up. So I always start with left front and then go to his left back. I then walk around his rear and pick the other back then up to the right front. My farrier was starting with both front hoofs, gets them all trimmed then moves to the back hoofs. Some months ago Murphy was acting up a bit with his back legs, picking up the wrong one and wasn’t mean or kicking but my farrier said maybe he’s in pain or something because he was picking up the other foot after he would put one down he’d pick up the other, kind of back and forth. Haha, I was pretty sure he wasn’t in pain (I know at 3 he could be but was thinking and praying it may be behavioral and not pain) so I got to thinking he’s just really smart and wants to give you the next hoof.

So I told my farrier he likes routine and when you go counter clockwise he stands so nice and is ready with the next hoof for the trim!! He’s been trimmed twice since I’ve discovered this and he’s so sweet and behaves perfect!! My farrier says oh yes, as I remind him, this is the counter clockwise horse! 😂 I thought you would enjoy hearing about his idiosyncrasies. I’m so proud of him. He sure is a special pony! ❤️🐴❤️

    1. Wonderful! Sounds a lot like my life growing up outside Åre, Sweden. Some of the best memories of my life are from those magical night skiing sessions. (For me it was snowboarding, but still..)

  4. Aww, Maria. You offer more proof that location can be all important. The only chance I’ve had to see northern lights was a late night road trip with a friend that took us near the boarder of Montana where I’m pretty sure I saw the greenish glow in the midnight sky silhouetting the mountains before us. I’d love, LOVE to see them for real because, for a story I tried to write many years ago, I studied up on what causes them. It’s actually amazing and scary all at the same time – but I still want a good chance to view them for myself.

Lord – I hope covid runs out of room to spread someday. I think it’s already starting to drop below other flu strains in terms of infection and loss of life. But I have no interest is re-catching it myself so I too got my 3rd booster shot. My shoulder ached for a few days if I raised my arm in a certain way – so I was one of the fortunate ones. My wife had no after effects.

Finally, if someone should be paid to go skiing with kids – I’m so glad it’s you. You are likely an ongoing blessing to your students – but being paid to sky with them – – – wow. Only in my dreams could such a thing happen to me.

(even more) Blessings to you, my friend.

    1. I have seen northern lights on several occasions, but the most spectacular ones was more than 20 years ago, living further north of here.

Let’s hope that we are both done with Covid, and that it disappears to never return.

I am grateful for my job. When I returned to Sweden I was offered a few job within the first week of my arrival (I had applied for them while still in Las Vegas.) I picked this job due to the fact that I love being outdoors, and it seemed like I would be able to be outdoors a lot, the skiing, and the generous amount of time to plan my lessons/document progress/develop new ways. These factors combined makes the work rewarding and meaningful. I am very grateful for it. On top of that my colleagues are wonderful, not only on my department, but the whole school has a very warm, inviting climate.

I hope all is well in your world. It was a little hard to tell by your coffee share, that was interesting and useful in another way. Be safe my friend.

  5. Maria, What a busy week you’ve had. I hope your colleagues and chefs get well soon so you can go back to your normal workload. Beautiful ski hills and sky photos. I practice meditation and acknowledge moments of mindfulness daily. It definitely keeps me centred and happy. I hope you have a relaxing weekend with your daughter and are feeling much better after your booster shot. Thank you for your #weekendcoffeeshare. The badge looks nice on your blog sidebar 🙂

    1. It’s been very busy, very busy, but those moments of mindfulness are lifesavers weeks like this. Meditation is a wonderful tool, I practice it daily as well. The weekend is just as relaxing as I hoped for. There is walking, baking, and reading happening at my house today, a pretty perfect day if you ask me 🙂 I hope your weekend is wonderful ❤

  6. Pretty awful that so many people were out sick this week. And both chefs? I know that at the beginning people in Sweden were hoping for “herd immunity”, but is having all three shots, as you now have, common? Are there requirements for working with children? Anyway, I hope people recover quickly and the staffing gets back to normal soon!
Tuesday does sound like a great day! Well, any days on skis is a good day 😉 I used to ski quite a bit, with one year having more than 60 days on the snow, but lately I have not been able to go very often – having the house on Cape Cod takes my free time and money (there is a ski resort about 20 minutes up the road that has night skiing and is relatively inexpensive, but it would still be very difficult…).
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. It was a pretty tough week, but next will be better 🙂 There are lots of requirements for working with children, but so far no requirement to get vaccinated (even though it is definitely preferred,) if that was what you where getting at. Both chefs are working tomorrow, which I am looking forward too. A chef that used to work at our school when I started there (2,5 years ago,) came by on Friday with a chocolate cake to cheer us up. I thought that was so incredibly thoughtful, since he doesn’t work there anymore, but had heard that we were having a difficult week. There are good people out there. That cake really lifted our spirits.
      Have a great new week!

  7. Amazing sky shot! Skiing with kids must be brilliant. My kids love it, and with every ski holiday they come back a few inches taller. A great boost for confidence. Glad the 3rd boost went ok. Aside from sore arm no ill effects at my end.

    1. Thank you so much! It is a lot of fun skiing with them. Just like you said, a great confidence boost. Sadly my daughter don’t like downhill skiing at all. She used to enjoy snowboarding when she was younger, but nowadays it is hard ot get her to tag along. She recently expressed an interest in cross country skiing, and I’ve ordered equipment for her, that we are eagerly waiting for. I used to compete in cross country skiing when I was her age, and of course it would be lots of fun if she took an interest in it. They have ski tracks on several places around town, the closest being on the lake where we go swimming in the summer. The thought of her ‘maybe’ liking cross country skiing make me excited, since it would make it easy for me to pick it up then as well.
      Have a wonderful new week!

  8. I’d love to see the Northern Lights – interesting how commonplace they are for you 🙂 Sorry to hear about all the covid and the extra work + the booster side effects….covid has a lot to answer for!

  9. Sounds like you had a jam-packed weekend Maria. My wife and I settled in to our new travel location yesterday in Georgia, in the USA. We love it here. Ample rural beauty, nature walks, right up our alley. Gorgeous photos you snapped!

  10. I would love to see the NOrthern Lights. I live in Washington State and there are a few times during the year that in certain areas or certain elevations you can see them but I’ve never ventured to those places and usually find out way to late.
