Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, can I get you a cup of coffee? As you can see we are not at my house this weekend. I was thinking that we could enjoy our coffee chat at one of the cafes in town today, what do you think? There are some healthy choices of sandwiches, smoothies, and kombucha if you’d like, or there is coffee and really yummy pastries, if that is more to your likings.

I don’t know where to start this week. It’s been a fantastic week! On Fridays I always send a weekly (digital)letter to the parents of the children in my class, this week I started out by stating that this was perhaps the best week of the year so far. We had our final day at the ski slope on Tuesday. On Monday night there was a big snowstorm, and there was tons of fresh snow on Tuesday morning, and the sun was shining! The only day with sunshine this week. It was a perfect end to a fabulous season.

We’d invited the children’s families for the grand final, and there was plenty of parents, grandparents and siblings there. We arranged parallel slalom, where the children could compete against each other, and against their parents. (Parallel slalom is a discipline of alpine skiing, where two skiers compete head to head on parallel identical slalom courses.) Of course the children could play and ski freely just for fun as well. We also offered snowboarding lessons for those who wanted to try that. I’ve taught 25 children in my group the basics of snowboarding this year, and plenty of children from other schools as well. We ended our grand final on Tuesday with a barbecue at the ski slope, and a prize-giving ceremony. It was a perfect day. With permission we’ve been filming the kids progress with the skis and one of my colleagues turned it into a beautiful movie. Our principal, myself, and several of the parents teared up when they watched it. It really has been an amazing year, the children have made such an amazing progress, on so many levels. The group is fantastic, their individual development and self-esteem have risen to unexpected levels, effecting so much more than just their physical abilities in the ski slope. It’s been wonderful to be a part of this.

Weather-wise, I am ready for spring, but it is snowing like crazy outside my window.

Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend! What is going on in your corner of the world? Have a refill on your coffee and tell me about it!
Love,
Maria
What a wonderful way to end the season. I didn’t realize the parents where there too which is so wonderful. And how cool it snowed so you had some fresh snow on the slopes!! It’s so fulfilling to have a job you Love and are passionate about, and these young children are so lucky to have you as their instructor! ❤️ Your tomato plants look wonderful! Hopefully sunny warm days will come soon! Have a wonderful weekend too! ❤️😍🤩

Thank you Diana! It was wonderful how it all came together so beautifully at the end. The parents were welcome to join us at the ski slopes every week, but at the grand finale we arranged more of a party for everyone, and several families choose to take a day off to join us that day. I understand California has much warmer weather! I’ve seen photos from my friends facebook feeds where they are swimming with their horses this week. I hope you are well Diana. I will pop over to see if you have a coffee share ❤ all the best!

Sounds like a fun week if you like snow and skiing in its different forms! I’ve seen photos of snow from my Swedish friends and family in all my social media feeds this week. And I’m sort of horrified myself when I see it! Here it’s cold but at least it looks like spring. Hope you get a nice weekend. It’s been a long time since I visited Espresso house! I liked their coffee but was always pissed off about their very poor gluten free options. Still, seeing the logo gives some nostalgia!

I know! I am pretty much over winter now, but I am really happy that the kids got such a wonderful end of their season at the ski slope. I am ready for spring! The photos you shared of your garden so far looks promising. It is a very inviting space you have. Cheers to warmer weather!

Thanks for taking us to the cafes for our virtual coffee Maria. I think you have more snow then me. It is finally starting to melt here and we had rain yesterday, but it is calling for snow today.

April weather…we’ve had some really nice sunny weeks. The snow disappeared a couple times in the city, but now it covered the ground again. I see blue skies and some sun outside my window today, we’ll see what the day brings 🙂 I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. ❤

Thank you John 🙂 Everyone speak English in Sweden. It’s most common to start learning Swedish in Kindergarten, at the latest some school starts in 3rd grade. If you work in a cafe you most definitely speak English 🙂 I hope you’ll come for a visit one day.
I’ve heard it’s very warm in California right now, my facebook feed is filled with my California friends swimming with their horses this week. I hope you are enjoying a beautiful weekend. Cheers!

Wow, April snow! Great timing for your last day of school skiing. Sounds like a wonderful day for all.
Your tomato plants are growing leaps and bounds, I can see the progress from week to week.
It continues to be cool and somewhat rainy here, but I managed to tackle an overgrown forsythia this week. It took a couple days to recover, ha! My muscles need to toughen up. 🙂
I sowed some salvia in hope of planting them out in May for hummingbirds. I’m not usually a patient seed sower so I don’t do many. 😉
Have a great week!

Thank you Eliza! The sun is actually shining today, but yesterday it snowed so much. Now when the ski season is over, all the snow have permission to melt today if you ask me. LOL.
I always enjoy to hear about your garden. I actually wrote an email to a local gardening society yesterday. They have garden plots with small cabins for sale, but they are usually very expensive (somewhere around $50 000 for a small plot, but I found out that they have a few gardening plots with only land that they lease out. There are no plots available now, but I signed up for one if one becomes available. We’ll see. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Cheers! ❤

Thank you! I have not been to any coffee shops during the pandemic, but now things are easing up a lot here. I believe almost all restrictions are lifted. Best of luck with your gardening endeavours 🙂 Have a wonderful new week ahead!

Hi Maria,
Whether it’s snow related or anything else, I’m sure there is no better feeling than setting out to help a bunch of kids do something, try something, improve or grow towards something and then succeeding!
Now that’s a wonderful feeling. I know of it and have experienced it myself.
Bravo for you.
And such a great way to celebrate being back in Sweden I bet!
PS – something odd is happening with my browser (I suspect my browser but have not proved it). It seems to happen only with non-US web sites, thus sometimes a Canadian or Swedish site works until I try to push data back to it, i.e. posting a comment. It fails with a whole screen error message about a security problem with the site. I suspect the error message is wrong because sometimes the same site works fine and sometimes all I have to do it try again and it works. Anyway, this happened this weekend when I tried to post this comment. I had to save it until I could try again and hope that this time – it will work. If you’re reading this, it did.
All the best.

Thank you Gary. The thing you described with the comments happened to me a lot lately, when I for instance try to comment on a blog outside of Sweden. I usually copy my own comment before hitting the send button (in case it disappear,) reload the page, and after that it works. Perhaps many companies and individuals are improving their internet security due to the state of things in the world, and that is why we experience this? I hope you are enjoying a wonderful new week. ❤

I love the contrast of your tall tomato plant against the snowy window because I just associate it with being summer fruit. Maybe it’s just me since I am never around snow.

Thank you! I did too! I was going for the contrast, it’s not that common even in my part of the world 🙂 I hope your week is a good one, I know you are experiencing much warmer weather at the moment.
