Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, can I get you a cup of coffee? Or maybe some tea? How are you doing?
This has been another intense ’end of the semester’ week. Things are coming together just the way they should at work, and I am happy about that. This week we arranged a summer party for the children. It was a success with almost all the childrens families present. Everyone was happy and several children in my class said that it was the best days of their lives. LOL.

Even though it has been another intense week at work I’ve been able to enjoy some amazing bike rides as well. I am always aiming for balance in life, it is very important to me. I need nature on my schedule every day and therefor I am making time in nature a priority. A ride through a forest, or around a lake in the morning changes my energy for the whole day.

If I don’t have time for a longer ride in the morning I make time for coffee at the balcony in the morning. Sitting there among my plants in the morning, and in the evening, also helps me to put a golden frame around my day, so to speak. It’s the little things that makes all the difference.

Speaking of plants, for a while I’ve been thinking that I need a Snake plant in my living room. I had a spot in one of my windows where I imagined a snake plant being the missing piece. I took care of that this week. I’ll show you the plant today, and what it looks like in relation to the rest of the room when I’ve found the right pot for it. I’m going to visit some fun second hand stores when my vacation starts, and look for some ’new’ used pots for my indoor plants.

This weekend there is a festival in my town, Falun. The festival Å festen – The river party, is an annual event, but it has been cancelled for the past two years due to Covid. Everyone is thrilled that we are able to enjoy the festival again. We spent seven hours there yesterday, enjoying some good food, the amusement park, and listening to my daughter’s favourite artist Klara Hammarström. We met so many people that we know and everyone was in a festive mood. The weather was great 68F/20C, very comfortable.

We are getting closer to our summer break/vacation and yesterday before going to the festival we sat down and nailed some of our plans; booked hotels, train tickets, and some other tickets that needs to be booked in advance. Among other things we are going to Gothenburg by the end of the month. My daughter have never been there, and it is one of my favourite cities in the world. I lived there for a few years in my 20’s, and I like to visit when I can. It’s the second biggest city in Sweden, but it is SO green, it doesn’t feel like a big city (unless you are in one of the less beautiful parts of the suburbs.) There are trees and parks everywhere. Of course it is also right on the coast, and there’s Kattegatt, an arm of the North Sea reaching all the way into the huge dock in the city. It is a fun city, and the surrounding nature is something extra. I can’t wait to show my daughter some of my favourite spots there. It is an International city and I believe she will feel right at home there. Do you need a refill of your coffee? Tea?

We are enjoying a three day weekend this weekend, since we are celebrating Nationaldagen- The National Day of Sweden, a public holiday tomorrow June 6th. We don’t have any exact plans, except for a nice family dinner and the traditional strawberries with vanilla ice cream.
Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend! What is going on in your corner of the world?
Love,
Maria
I’m glad you’ve had a good week! How fun to go to Göteborg, I agree it’s a lovely green city if you stay in the somewhat central areas as you say.
Lovely to add plants and to have a garden of sorts even when you live in an apartment. I couldn’t agree more about nature… it has healing and soothing powers for sure. I love my walks around here!
For us, the weekend has been all about preparing for our first gig that happened last night and we had lots of fun! Today I’m exhausted and we’re going to just relax with some movies but I also need to prep my bags for the trip to Sweden tomorrow.

Things seem to be back to ‘normal’ in Falun, post-pandemic. Our numbers keep spiking, so we’re still shy of public gatherings.
I am with you on nature being a daily necessity. I get crazy without a good dose of it!
I like your variegated snake plant. I have one of those and several of the regular ones. They claim they are good for cleaning indoor air.
The garden is keeping me busy. Most of the seeds I planted popped up within days. Today my spouse completed the deer fence surround, so I feel less anxious about my efforts being eaten by those marauders! There was a doe hanging around for a few days and I think she had a newborn hidden somewhere, so couldn’t leave until he/she was ready to go, which takes a few days. So another generation is coming on board!
Have a great national day celebration tomorrow and week ahead. Bet you are enjoying the extra long days in the land of the midnight sun. 🙂

Thank you Eliza! I’ve also heard that snake plants are great for cleaning the air.
When I lived in California deer was a huge problem in the garden, in all the different location I tried gardening at. I did some research of how to deal with it back then, two things worked. The most powerful was Coyote Urine, I bought a spray from Amazon that I sprayed around the perimeter. The second most powerful thing in my battle against deer in the garden was Irish spring soaps, that I pushed a wired through and hung in various places around the garden. I changed them out halfway through the gardening season. I’m sure you have everything under control in your garden 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a lovely week ahead ❤

Thanks for the coyote urine tip. I use Irish Spring everywhere, but there is some critter (possibly raccoon, or maybe possum?) that insanely eats the soap – yuck, I can’t imagine that taste being attractive. I need a critter cam to figure it out.
A mama doe was still hanging around yesterday. Impossible to find her little fawn hiding in plain sight, though I did search!

What a wonderful time being out and at the concert. I love the photo of you out and about within the beautiful forests. I agree, nature and/or being outside is a necessity for good mental health. I wouldn’t say I would need horses to enjoy the outdoors, but they are a nice added bonus! ❤️ Your daughter is growing up so fast! She is so beautiful, and how fun to see her favorite artist! Thank you so much Maria for the coffee and the happenings there and I will be looking forward to your summer adventures! Love, Diana ❤️🐴❤️

Thank you Diana, it is nice that things are getting back to more normal here. How is the Covid situation in CA?
Horses certainly makes time in nature very enjoyable. I enjoy seeing the photos you share. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. ❤

Thankfully most everything has opened up and we can see movies in theaters and go to a baseball game, eat in restaurants etc. Masks are not mandatory anymore though many still wear them. We are still experiencing a lot of shortages from canned cat food, too decongestants as my hubby had to go to 3 stores to find DayQuil for me since I caught a cold visiting my family. Little Teddy had a upper respiratory cough/cold.
Also, be glad you don’t have a car! We just went over $6.00 a gallon in my home town and I’ve seen it up over $8 in LA county but that’s just price gouging…. Prices are up everywhere, we are hanging in there for these crazy times right now!! ❤️

What a lovely snake plant. I think I have a snake plant in the office. Also I think that was nice all the parents showed to their children’s summer party. In the U.S. parents showing up for their kid’s school activiites can be difficult. I feel it requires timetable gymnastics.
