Weekend Coffee Share

I know of a really good coffee shop just a short walk from here. I’ve had coffee there a couple times, and they have great coffee. Want to go with me?

How is your week? Mine is really good so far. There was three regular work days (Mon/Wed/Thur,) one vacation day (Tues,) and one in service day (Fri). Today (Sat) I’ve been catching up on chores at home, cleaning, laundry, baking, meal prep etc. I also managed to get a couple nice walks in the snow earlier today.

What have you been up to this week? On Tuesday when I took a day off from work (planned before Christmas) I had a big presentation/test at school in the afternoon. I prepared for it in the morning, played in the snow for a few hours with my daughter in the middle of the day, and attended school in the afternoon. It was a good day. I am happy I was able to take a vacation day. It felt wonderful to prepare without stressing, spend time with my daughter (it was her last day of the Christmas break) and do the presentation knowing that I’ve given it my all.

Yesterday when we had an in service day at work I thought a lot about how I really like my ”new job” (I started in August 2022). I like my colleagues and the warm, open climate. I also have a wonderful principal. Everyone tries their best, it’s a challenging neighbourhood, but the work is rewarding. It feels like my work place now, if you know what I mean? I guess it sometimes takes a few months before the feeling of being an outsider evaporates.

Tomorrow I’m going to pack a couple boxes in preparation for the move, perhaps read some, and spend time with my children. Most weekends are pretty similar, but they are exactly how I want them to be right now. Life is good. I hope your week is fabulous! Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend coffee share.

Love,

Maria

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. I now reside in the region where I was born: Dalarna, Sweden. I am a mom, a kindergarten teacher, a minimalist and a gardener. Love, Maria

  1. Yes, I would love to walk with you to the coffee shop, Maria! I’m glad that you like your work, most people here anyway don’t like their job but they do it regardless. How far are you moving? I think this will be the second move within Sweden since you left Las Vegas? Happy weekend! ☺️🇸🇪

    1. Awesome!
I’m moving about 7,5 US miles. It’s right outside the city, in the countryside. My work is located on that side of the town, which is great. Have a great rest of your weekend!

  2. That sounds good to visit a coffee shop! I haven’t been in one for a long time because our favourite coffee shop closed down and I still haven’t explored what else is out there.
I’ve had a mixed week with some good moments and some bad but mostly good, I think. I’ve worked, done my weightlifting and walking/running, played music and more.
Good luck with your packing, and have a good week ahead!

    1. Wonderful! There are so many great coffee shops and cafes here in Falun. I have yet to pick my favourite. I don’t think any of them are open in the evenings though, which is something I would like to see in the future. When I lived in Gothenburg I often met friends at a cafe over a cup of tea in the evenings.
It sounds like you’re having a good week. I hope the rest of your weekend is great!

  3. Relaxing at home is my favorite ‘activity’, LOL! I got used to living quietly during the pandemic, and haven’t really gone back to life ‘before’ because I’ve come to enjoy it. Low-key is the way to go. 🙂
Have a good week ahead, back to full 5-day weeks!

    1. Learning to enjoy every moment is indeed a valuable life skill. I know you enjoy the longer days of spring and summer, and soon your beautiful garden will flourish once again ❤ Have a wonderful week!

  4. Maria, having coffee with you today reminded me of how much I used to love to play in the snow with my daughter when she was young. That was over 40 years ago. Nice memories. It sounds as if you had a great week. What are you studying in school?

  5. BTW – I installed my new VPN on my work laptop for use when I’m not working and guess what?
It works even when I’m sending notes to my friend in Sweden and Canada.
Perhaps all that grief I was getting about your and her sites was all the fault of my work VPN. . .
My company is hypersensitive about security and software threats, so that VPN might be overly careful in the case of blogging.
    Interesting. . .

  6. Hi Maria, thank you for the coffee and I’m enjoying it in our rainy weather. To be honest, I’m getting really tired of all the rain. I know it’s needed and I can smile at all the green hills but I’m feeling defeated at the stables. 😢 I’m thankful my horses have dry areas under their shelters but am looking forward to a nice break from the rain. We are sooooo water logged.

Enjoy the snow and family time. It is nice you have so much time to pack up for your eventual move. How EXCITING!! It’s so nice to hear how your week went and to keep in touch. Take care my friend! 💞💖

    1. I am so sorry for the very late reply. It’s already a new weekend, and I totally missed the last three comments from last weeks share. I am so sorry! What is the weather like now? Did you get a break from the rain? The weather here is playing yo-yo with us this winter, one day its warm around 35F, and the next day it’s 5F (like today). I prefer steady cold weather in the winter, and then a warm spring where everything melts fast. Today is really gorgeous. I am having some morning coffee admiring the light pink sky outside. Have a wonderful weekend my friend ❤

      1. No apologies necessary!! Totally understand especially with the huge time differences too. And YES! We finally have a break from all the rain and are slowly drying out. The warm sun feels so good. It hasn’t been very warm for here – barely hitting 60F during the day and in the high 30’s at night. I’m hoping we are past the worse of the rain! 🙏 ❤️ That’s quite a yo-yo in your weather which I bet is not fun. I’m really looking forward to spring this year too! I’m so happy you are enjoying your coffee on a beautiful weekend. My daughter was here visiting and I’m enjoying this weekend immensely!! Thank you my friend 💖

  7. The plants look nice in the window. I would like to have a few more house plants. I currently have a Christmas cactus & a poinsettia. The weather has started out nicer here this week for getting out & walking the dog in the snow. I’ve got to get the laundry & housework done this week too. With the 2 of us, I do it every other week. #Weekendcoffeeshare

    1. Thank you so much Karen! I am currently trying to downsize my number of paints, not because I want to have less plants, but because it’s challenging for the plants to move in the winter, and I am moving to another house in March. It could potentially be really cold then, and instead of them all dying I am trying to find them new homes closer by. At least the majority. I’ll start a new collecting once I moved. I love propagating plants, and they have a tendency to multiply fast. Houseplants makes me feel good 🙂 I apologise for the late reply to your lovely comment, I cannot believe it’s already the weekend again. Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Hi Maria – your life is sounding great. So happy the new job is working out well for you. I’ve found the little job I started back in April 2022 is working out really well too – I love that I’m appreciated and challenged and using my brain – it’s good to feel like you’re in the right place isn’t it?
