Weekend Coffee Share – un unwanted encounter

Welcome to the Weekend coffee share! Can I offer you some coffee? Or tea?

This is a very short and very late coffee share. The four day weekend started out great. I trimmed some bushes and cut the lawn at my garden Thursday morning. However when I was about to enjoy my well deserved lunch I had a close encounter with a wasp. A some of you may remember I had a very bad reaction to a wasp sting in California five years ago. It didn’t take me more than a couple minutes to realise this was about to go down the same road. The lady that has the allotment garden next to me called our emergency number, and the ambulance was there in only a few minutes. I spend nine horrible hours at the ER, and the rest of the weekend resting depending on some heavy meds. I am grateful. So very grateful. I don’t have the energy to write more right now, but I am doing so much better, and I am very grateful, did I already say that? I hope your weekend has been less eventful.

The new planters for the garden that I was supposed to install this weekend will kindly rest in my living room until next weekend.. Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share.

With gratitude and love,

Maria

  1. I’m ‘liking’ this post because I am so grateful that you are here to write it! A heck of a scare it was, I’m sure. Will you be carrying an Epi-pen in the future?

    1. Thank you Eliza! I’m going through an allergy screening process. At the moment I have other fast working allergy meds with me, when the screening is completed we’ll see what the doctor order. I am so relieved that I got help so fast. I am very grateful.

      1. And I very much understand – My sister has awful allergies. When we had my father’s 90th birthday party in January, she had to be rushed to the hospital. This happens far too often, mostly because restaurants lie about what is in their food.

  3. Oh my goodness! I am so glad you’re OK! I found out the hard way that I am *very allergic to bee stings so I know all too well what you’re probably going through. I am so sorry your weekend was thrown off and I am so grateful to know you’ve made it through! I hope next weekend is much less eventful 😉

  4. I’m so sorry to hear that you endured another wasp sting, Maria. You just reminded me to hang our fake wasp nest up outside. That is quite the reaction you had to be in the ER for so long. Glad you are OK! Your planter kits look great–Hans just build two for our tomatoes (out of scratch wood). Take care and be careful my friend!
