Weekend Coffee Share – The feeling of the week is gratitude

Welcome to the weekend coffee share! Can I get you a cup of coffee?

How are you doing? It’s been a short and busy week here. Everyone had Monday off due to Easter, and the kids had an Easter break all week. We’ve had very beautiful weather all week (cold mornings 28F/-2C and warm, sunny days 64F/17C,) up until yesterday (Saturday) when it was windy and much cooler (50F/10C) than the other days. I’ve been riding my bike to work all week, and then some. It feels great!

Lugnet Nature Reserve

Yesterday I decided to do a little hiking at Lugnet Nature Reserve. It was beautiful, even though I met more people than I usually do. Many times I do not meet anyone at all, sometime I meet one, or two people, but yesterday I met around ten people. It was still peaceful and I enjoyed my forest bathing.

When I got home I’ll admit that I was a little cold, and I choose to have afternoon coffee inside. At one of my favourite spots, next to the big window bordering the balcony (see the photo at the top.) The plants are doing good, we are still waiting for warmer weather, but it is warm enough for my container garden to be outside 24/7. Enjoying my coffee next to this window, or outside at the balcony, are my favourite places to sit down for a cup of coffee in my home.

I’ve always been fascinated by root systems, and I sometimes takes this trail just to see this particular tree with its roots bare on the trail.

On Thursday afternoon, right after work, I enjoyed a cup of coffee and an audio book at the balcony. The sun was shining, and it was absolutely wonderful. It was so nice that I somehow fell asleep and woke up 30 min later, just in time to start dinner..

This weekend I’ve mostly been catching up on things around the house, something I really like doing, (and there are always things to do.) I find it very relaxing doing little things around the house, while hanging out with my daughter. This weekend we’ve been talking about the new school she is going to start this fall, and our (undecided) plans for the summer. Tell me about your week!

This week I’m very grateful that both of my children had a wonderful Easter break, the hopes and dreams of a lovely spring and summer to come, and all the time in nature I was blessed with this week. The week ends with a feeling of gratitude. Sunday is BTW the last day of the week in Sweden. Thank you Natalie for hosting the weekend coffee share.

Weekend Coffee Share – Easter Edition

Welcome to the weekend coffee share! Can I get you a cup of coffee? The sun is shining, if you’d like we could sit outside? How is your week?

I don’t know how things are at your house, but at our house the Easter bunny is preparing an epic Easter egg hunt. LOL. This weekend is going to be chill with Easter themed crafting activities, good food, and some gardening.

We are trying some new paint especially made for painting eggs.

The weather is warm and sunny, in the mid 50’s and rising to the lower 60’s next week. Almost all the snow is gone. The plan is to get the tomato plants out to the balcony on Monday. The balcony is several degrees warmer than the outside temperature and it should be fine. I can’t wait because now the plants are covering my windows and are starting to bloom. They need to move outside to bigger pots. What’s the weather like in your corner of the world?

My daughter has a stubborn cold that refuses to leave. We are both enjoying just spending time together this long weekend. The spring is filled with fun activities and this might be the last quiet weekend in a long time. All the activities ahead of us are also welcome after two long years of Covid restrictions. Especially my daughter can’t wait to spend time in different cities and explore again. I’m happy as long as I get to do some gardening, read some books, take walks in the forest, and ride my bike.. but I do understand my daughter as well.

Feel free to take a refill of that coffee before you leave! Thank you Natalie for hosting the weekend coffee share. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Happy Easter!

Weekend Coffee Share – snow, snow, snow, and more snow

Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, can I get you a cup of coffee? As you can see we are not at my house this weekend. I was thinking that we could enjoy our coffee chat at one of the cafes in town today, what do you think? There are some healthy choices of sandwiches, smoothies, and kombucha if you’d like, or there is coffee and really yummy pastries, if that is more to your likings.

I don’t know where to start this week. It’s been a fantastic week! On Fridays I always send a weekly (digital)letter to the parents of the children in my class, this week I started out by stating that this was perhaps the best week of the year so far. We had our final day at the ski slope on Tuesday. On Monday night there was a big snowstorm, and there was tons of fresh snow on Tuesday morning, and the sun was shining! The only day with sunshine this week. It was a perfect end to a fabulous season.

We’d invited the children’s families for the grand final, and there was plenty of parents, grandparents and siblings there. We arranged parallel slalom, where the children could compete against each other, and against their parents. (Parallel slalom is a discipline of alpine skiing, where two skiers compete head to head on parallel identical slalom courses.) Of course the children could play and ski freely just for fun as well. We also offered snowboarding lessons for those who wanted to try that. I’ve taught 25 children in my group the basics of snowboarding this year, and plenty of children from other schools as well. We ended our grand final on Tuesday with a barbecue at the ski slope, and a prize-giving ceremony. It was a perfect day. With permission we’ve been filming the kids progress with the skis and one of my colleagues turned it into a beautiful movie. Our principal, myself, and several of the parents teared up when they watched it. It really has been an amazing year, the children have made such an amazing progress, on so many levels. The group is fantastic, their individual development and self-esteem have risen to unexpected levels, effecting so much more than just their physical abilities in the ski slope. It’s been wonderful to be a part of this.

I left my bike home yesterday and walked to work…

Weather-wise, I am ready for spring, but it is snowing like crazy outside my window.

The tomato plants are thriving with more hours of daylight. I now have tomato plants in all my south facing windows.

Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend! What is going on in your corner of the world? Have a refill on your coffee and tell me about it!
