We’ve decided to explore the beautiful region of Dalarna (where we live,) this summer. Today we went to the picturesque town of Rättvik, right by lake Siljan. The water in Siljan was rather cold, but it was a wonderful day. We enjoyed a picnic on the beach.

We visited the local art and craft store, where I found a gorgeous book with water colour paintings of edible and medicinal plants.

Everything in Rättvik was so beautiful, that we didn’t even go on the hike I had planned for the day… I guess we have to come back. It’s less than one hour from where we live, I think we can manage that rather easily.

This post is part of my friend Terri’s series Sunday Stills, this week’s theme being The Great Outdoors. It’s been a fantastic day today! How is your day?
Love,
Maria

Thank you Terri! There is a lot of beauty here that I have yet to discover. I am looking forward to that. Yesterday we noticed that there was a difference in how much biting insects there is next to Lake Siljan, compared to the lakes closer to us, only less than one hour difference. We have a lot of biting insects at our lakes, and there was next to none at Lake Siljan. That is interesting, and definitely something to consider before purchasing land.
Stay safe din the heat. Thank you for hosting Sunday Stills 🙂

We are still exploring our new “backyard,” too, Maria. I think I would choose the lake with fewer biting insects!

Great photos, Maria! That lake looks so huge, more like an inland sea. The photo of the sand and sun is lovely. It’s about 89 right now, actually under 100 for a change. ❤️

Thank you so much John! Lake Siljan is Swedens 6th largest lake, 137 sq mi. It was about 72 F yesterday. Today is going to be the same, and then slowly increase a little the next days, to around 78, maybe 80. It’s more humid here though, not bad, but no dry heat. Enjoy your day ❤

Thank you! It is, there are mountains in the North-West, lakes and big forests in the middle, and farm land in the South. Have a wonderful day Eliza!
