Weekend Coffee Share – Where did this week go?

Welcome to the Weekend Coffee Share, can I get you a cup of coffee?  What a week! I’ve worked as usual, and I’ve had a gazillion parent-teacher conferences every day of the week.

On Thursday evening, after work, I took the bus to Borlänge (a neighbouring town) to pick up new glasses. I have a subscription for glasses, that are being recycled, and reused. This time I picked up two glasses for work/every-day-use, and one pair of sports glasses for riding my bike. I picked them out a couple weekends ago, and now they were finally ready. I am very happy with them all, but I already know that I will be using the one furthest to the right in the photo (below) the most. I feel very good about the sports glasses, and that they are going to make my bike rides safer from now on. The glasses in the middle will be my “business” glasses, for formal occasions when I have to be an adult. LOL.

Sports glasses, business, and every day glasses. All of them are transition lenses.

Last night (Friday) our neighbours arranged a party in our huge community greenhouse. It was a nice party, with good food, and great conversations. I have very kind neighbours. I enjoyed the evening, so did my daughter.

Today my daughter and I went to an open house at the middle school she is going to attend in the fall. It seem to be a great school. The teachers are originally from many different countries, and I really like that the students get to meet different ways of thinking, and being at school.

Stora Kopparbergs Kyrka, everything is very green right now, the grass, the trees, and the bushes.

Every day this week I’ve been writing a little bit on my final exam assignment for the class in Philosophy of education that I am taking right now (as a part of my Degree of Master of Science, Main Field of Study: Educational Work.) The final exam assignment is due on Wednesday, and I am hoping to finish it this weekend. I still have ways to go. My title is The school of the future – The educational utopian vision to fight the climate crisis. It’s my ideas of how to make the school system of the future be more beneficial both for the students and for our planet, based on classical educational ideas by Dewey and Platon, mixed with a modern way of thinking, while honouring practical knowledge from the past.

Next week I’m only going to work three days and that is going to be LOVELY! It is going to be three very intense days, but after that I am going to rest and enjoy some gorgeous spot in nature. In the best of worlds I’m getting both of my kids to think that they want nothing but to enjoy the weekend on a camping trip. We’ll see. ..

Thank you Natalie for hosting the Weekend Coffee Share. I hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend! What is going on in your corner of the world? Have a refill on your coffee and tell me about it!

Love,

Maria

It’s all about experiences, and the healing power of nature. Life is about choosing happiness. My gypsy soul have taken me to many different countries, and definitely taught me to be more humble. I believe that you are what you eat; mind, body and soul. I enjoy growing my own food, and spending time outdoors. I now reside in the region where I was born Dalarna, Sweden. I am a mom, a minimalist and a gardener. I'm also a kindergarten teacher with a dream of improving practices of teaching sustainability in kindergarten. To be able to engage in educational research I am working on my Degree of Master of Science, Main Field of Study: Educational Work. Love, Maria

  1. Best wishes for your completing your schoolwork, Maria. The church is very beautiful! Vegas has 84 degrees today, 93 tomorrow then 97 degrees. It’s been to 99 already. Have a great weekend! ❤️🇸🇪

    1. Thank you so much John! We don’t have that kind of temperature a the moment.. it’s 64F and windy today. Enjoy the heat 🙂 I saw on instagram that you’ve had a vacation. That is wonderful ❤

    1. Thank you so much! It is most interesting to write about, I choose it myself 😉 We were allowed to choose any topic as long as we based it upon the books we’ve worked with in this philosophy class. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thank you! That is my thought as well! We’ll see what the kids say, and how much pollen there is. I took a longer bike ride today and there was so much pollen in the air. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend!

  2. Good luck with your final… your topic is leading edge. Changing the world one kid at a time… brilliant!
Great glasses… you’re prepared for all eventualities.
Have a great week ahead, and hopefully, the camping will happen. 🙂

    1. Thank you! I choose the topic myself. This paper can only be ten pages, but I would like to use it as a stepping stone for a bigger study in the future. That would be very interesting. We’ll see what my professor says..Have a wonderful week ahead my friend ❤

  3. Hi Maria,
I’ve taught a lot in my career but almost none in normal public schools so I’m more of a civilian in your arena. Almost all of my teaching happened with adult corporate or discretional courses, like adults who want to go deeper into computer science, programming and such.
The work of educating children and even teens in the sense of public schools is harder because much of it can be so controversial. I have opinions (of course) but so do so many others. I don’t think I could navigate those waters as well as I might have been able to 30 years ago.
I applaud your work because I don’t think I could do what you do.
Have a great week and hopefully a great break before your new role starts.

    1. It’s a good thing when you have found your niche. I don’t know much about computer science at your level. I hope your week is a good one. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. If you have a coffee share I’ll be over for some coffee, or tea 🙂

  4. Good luck with your final exam! It looks so green and nice over there now, finally! I’m going over quite soon, and will be near you since I’m staying with my parents for a week, but probably won’t be able to hang out in Falun this time. Another time definitely. This is a wonderful time in Sweden, however. I remember that church very well from when I lived there!

  5. I love all your glasses and so smart to have the different ones for the different needs. I have just one pair that are transition glasses which work well for me. I hope you have a great weekend and your studies are so intriguing and I know you’ll do well on your paper. I don’t have a coffee share this weekend, so busy the time got away from me. Have a great week! 🥰

    1. Transition glasses truly is a blessing, makes life so much easier. I just found your coffee share 🙂 How fun that you get to go to AZ soon. In my head you were just there, but I do understand that it must feel very long for you, being so far apart from your grandkids. Have a wonderful trip!

  6. I barely made it but I wrote a short coffee share as I really wanted to share my anniversary with Murphy’s arrival a year ago this weekend. 🤩 I can’t believe I made it with a minute to spare. Haha! If you have time to visit that would be wonderful, sending warm hugs to you and your sweet family! 💞

  7. Wow that’s so nice you have three pairs of glasses. I only have one pair but it’s fun, but I think it could pass for business. My frames are a light pink with brown gradient.

    1. It’s a convenient, and environmentally friendly way to just rent the glasses you need. It’s actually cheaper to rent three pairs, compared to purchase one pair 🙂 I am so happy to hear your new job is working out for you.

  9. I have an appointment with the eye doctor in July…I have only needed readers, but I definitely need more than that now…sadly. I don’t think I’ll do contact lenses…I don’t like touching my eye..haha..so glasses it will probably be. Enjoyed your update.
